2021.10.18 20:12 crasshumor If someone attacks you or wants to fight, the best thing to do is to run away, and that's what you should teach your kids too.

There are so many unknowns in fighting a stranger. They might have a weapon. They may be skilled or stronger. They might bring other people to attack you. You may get hit in the head or vital organs even by mistake.
And best case scenario, if you are strong and beat the guy, there's still a big risk of getting into legal trouble.
You should only fight if thats the last resort. If your family is in danger. Or they've got hold of you. Even then, fight so that you can run away.

2021.10.18 20:12 Greedy_Opportunity87 Holy Mother Santa Teresa

Holy Mother Santa Teresa Lost, Lonely and Almost Thirty Seven Days in Costa Rica

I have a lust, an increasing lust. Lust for the unknown, lust for the wild. It's something I cannot shake. It's like countless habits I cannot kick. Addictive traits passed down through generations flow through my sullen body. I always try to start fresh, change the way I think, eat, and drink. Too many people do that, I want more. I struggle, struggle with purpose. Purpose is what undeniably drives us all. The monotony is real, like mindless zombies stumbling towards their next victim. I too tend to wander. Only in my mind I wander, dreaming of what if. The body needs to follow. Why must we be complacent? I grow ever so pessimistic, day in day out. Stuck...
Day 1: What Am I Doing? I boarded a plane the size of a Volkswagen bus in San Jose, Costa Rica. I had only been in the country for a few hours. I had a backpack with roughly five shirts, underwear, socks, one pair of shorts, a toothbrush, and nine cans of Copenhagen. Stuffed to the brim, my recently purchased bottle of Jim Beam barely fit. I am an American. I look like an American, and I am alone. I chose to be alone; I choose to be alone often. Traveling alone is different. I sat directly behind the pilot. My face was no more than two feet from the back of his head. My tiny plane rumbled to life with the sound I can only imagine as loosening nuts and bolts. Next to me sat a newlywed couple from the St. Louis area. Only in a foreign country for a few hours, I crave the comfort of a full English conversation. It doesn’t last; our plane's engine is obnoxious, and It’s only a thirty-minute flight. I take two or three pictures to document my last moments of beauty if someone were to find our wreckage. As we make our way across the Pacific, I see small islands and dense jungle. I notice the plane is flying towards a landing strip, which can only be about a football field wide. For some reason, I've never been too afraid of flying. I’ve always had the fuck it mentality during turbulence or any kind of disturbance. This time that was not the case. We landed smooth enough. “What a ride!” I mumbled. “Yeah, that was something else,” replied the newlywed couple through nervous giggles. As we crawl out the back of the puny plane the new bride offers, “We are heading to Santa Teresa if you want to link up with us there!” “Yeah,” I replied and got off. A Costa Rican man in his mid-thirties is waiting for me behind a fragile fence holding a sign with my name on it. That’s all there is to this “airport.” A fence, seating area, and a landing strip. I moved towards the man; he looked me up and down and back at his sign.
“David?” “Yeah, that’s me!” “Okay, it’s just you?” “Yep, just me.” A somewhat defeated look crawled across his face. I threw my bag in the back of a Land Cruiser that holds up to fifteen passengers. “Montezuma Tours” in colorful decals plastered all sides of the vehicle. I hop in the front seat. We cruise for about ten minutes through winding roads while I watched his belly bounce. “How long is the drive?” “Como?” “Cuánto minutos, por?” I throw my hand up in a driving motion. “Oh, eh, forty minutes.” We arrived at my Airbnb for my first night of isolation. I throw the guy a five, and he drives off happy. I follow the instructions left for me and grab my key from under the sofa of outdoor patio furniture. I open the door to a rush of musty hot air and throw my bag on the bed. “What now,” I asked myself, as I cranked on the AC and ceiling fans and lay in bed. I told myself before I came here that I would not waste it by laying around, but here I am. I break out my only friend here, Jim, and pour myself a heavy glass. After cooling down, I went outside to sit on the same couch that hid my key. A dog is laying there wagging his tail. I now have two friends, a dog and Jim. “Hi puppy.” Inviting eyes look up at me pleading for attention. I take it all in, glass in hand, dog by my side. I am atop a hill; a vast jungle engulfs my modest cabin. The ocean is in clear view. “This is it!” I tell myself. A wave of euphoria and comfort wash over me. But then fear sat down next to me. While at at home I often brag about how I thrive in isolation, that I don’t need people, that humanity makes me ill. But maybe that’s just because I’m home, comfortable. The city of Montezuma is a Bohemian hippie paradise, at least which is what the too many travel blogs claim that I’ve studied in preparation for my arrival. I make my way down an overly steep winding hill towards the town. Drenched in sweat, I made it. Dust filled my eyes and the smell of sea salt and gasoline filled my nostrils. It’s the off-season, the town is dead. It’s a cute town, small, and just as the google images advertised. I stumbled into a bar or restaurant, not sure which. I am soaked. It’s the rainy season here, but I am wet from sweat, not rain. I wait standing at the bar, but the bartender ignores my presence. So I decided to make my way towards the back. Another bar sits on the beach, and I can see a few tables there with a few people sitting and eating. A small table for two is open, I plopped myself down and waited. Waves crashed along the beach as a hue of pink shined through the jungle canopy. The sun was going down, and my stomach growled. “The seafood must be unreal here!” I told myself out loud. A middle aged local approached me.
“Hola.” “Hola, como estas?” I replied. He reeled off a bevy of rapid Spanish; I only made out a few words. “I’m sorry, but do you speak English?” “Yes, yes! Of course, are you just drinking tonight?” “Oh no! I am very hungry! But I will also have a beer!” The word beer slithered off my thirsty lips in an almost giddy tone. He laughed and walked away. He soon returned with a menu and an Imperial, the locally brewed beer of Costa Rica. It’s damned good. I scanned the menu in hopes of finding something I recognize. Everything is 7,000 to 15,000 colones. “Holy shit, this shit is expensive!” I thought. I am abysmal with numbers--I always have been, probably always will be. My waiter returned to me. He’s wearing a wrinkled white collared shirt and khakis. He has bronzed skin, and he’s shorter than the average male. He has dark full hair, and he’s in fairly good shape for his age. I tell him I want seafood, and he suggests the tuna. I agreed with enthusiasm. Full of tuna, rice, and a mixture of vegetables, I made my way back up to the bar. I had a slight buzz going. I ordered another Imperial and sat and waited for something to happen, anything to happen. After two to seven beers, I decided it was in my best interest to save some money on food. I stumbled into a local supermarket just across from the bar and grabbed a carton of twelve eggs, four slices of prepackaged American cheese, a loaf of bread, a stick of butter, one liter of water, and a bar of chocolate. The clerk rang me up, and I asked for a bag. “No bag,” She replied with a stern tone, and pointed towards a pile of cardboard boxes. I attached my new box to my hip and stepped back out onto the street, looking for a ride. Motorcycles and ATVs zoom by giving the street lights a hazy glow. I shot a quick glance down at my phone, careful not to pull it far from my pockets safety. It’s only a little after seven. “Damn, I got to get up to something.” With nothing else left to do, I walk thirty feet across the street and back to the bar. There Are three or four people seated sucking on drinks. I set my box of groceries on the bar and order another beer. A hand jolts into my peripheral view to greet me. “Hey, David.” I reach out to shake the stranger’s hand. “What?” Is all I can reply. “I’m Anthony; you’re staying at my place Casa de Anthony, I saw you this afternoon walking to town.” Relief flows over my face and the defensive posture set by my shoulders melts away.
“Oh, no shit! Beautiful place you got up there, Anthony.” Anthony is in his early forties; his long black hair is pulled up into a tight bun. A Latino, he is short and stocky with pronounced forearms. Originally from California, he explains to me that he “left it all” to live the dream down here. I am in an easily persuaded state of mind and to me, this guy has it all. I buy him a beer as he continues talking. “I was building homes in California, making good money, everything was fine. Just something was missing. I visited Montezuma and just fell in love. Bought that plot of land and started building.” We talk about back home, politics, traveling, girls, food, and what it all means. A A Costa Rican woman or a Tica, approaches him wrapping her arm around his back and setting her hip up against his barstool. “This is my girl; she lives with me up at the main house. It’s her birthday.” “Nice to meet you, and happy birthday.” I said, shaking her hand. They have a quick conversation in Spanish about heading down to another bar to meet some friends and family to celebrate her birthday. I am not invited. “Enjoy your night, and happy birthday!” “Why don’t you just wait here for a little while; I’ll give you and your groceries a ride back up.” Anthony points over my left shoulder where a grey Chevrolet Silverado is parked. “That would be great, man! That’s a hike up that hill, and I don’t see any taxis.” They stroll off into the night as I order another beer and wait. The bar has WIFI, I pulled out my phone, read some news, checked some scores, and sent a few messages. Thirty minutes go by, forty-five, an hour. Anthony is nowhere in sight. I grab my box and head out in the direction they went. Trying to follow their footsteps, I find nothing. I don’t even see any other bars. A newer silver Toyota SUV with a taxi symbol illuminated on the roof is waiting by the bar. An Arabic looking younger man is pressed up against it looking prideful and talking to a younger local woman. “Taxi?” “Yes, yes. You need a ride?” “Yeah. I’m going up the hill,” I say while showing him a screenshot of the place I’m staying. “Ah, yes. I know the place. Is it okay if my sister comes?” I look over at the younger woman. She winks at me while chewing gum. She’s wearing a tank top that doesn’t hide her gut and jean shorts that hide nothing. The beer sloshing around in my stomach has made its way into my brain. “Um, I guess so,” I reply. “Great, hop in!” The young man is full of energy, bouncing from side to side while downshifting as we climb the hill. He speaks English well enough. The eyes like knives piercing mine from the rear-view mirror do not. The hill is winding and steep. Nausea started to set in. The drive is not comfortable
for a multitude of reasons. We make it to the top, and he drops it in park. “Thanks for the ride. How much do I owe you?” “You need weed? cocaine?” He pulls out two separate bags full of both. “Oh, no thanks. I’m just drinking tonight.” “You need girls?” He waves his hand almost genie like, trying to grant a wish. He stops his palms just below his sister’s chin in the back seat. “Nah, man, I’m good! That’s your sister!” I protest in a confused and awkward tone. “She’s not my real sister. She’s like a street sister, a good friend,” he informs me. “Okay then. Again, how much do I owe you?” “Ehh, five is good.” I throw him a five and a one, U.S. dollars, and he gives me his card. He expresses to me multiple times that if I need anything, call him. I scurry towards my cabin shooting glances over my shoulder. I can feel the booze leaking from my pores like tiny geysers. Sweet sticky sweat governing my happiness. Halfway up to my rental, I hide behind a tree, quickly taking another look from my drunken hysteria to see if the taxi is gone. No car in sight. “What the fuck man,” I mumbled to myself.

2021.10.18 20:12 KillerPussyToo Nuggets' Michael Porter Jr. explains COVID vax stance as start of season nears

MIKE STFU!!!!! This is a HORRIBLE look. He needs to stop talking.
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/nuggets-michael-porter-jr-covid-vax-stance
Michael Porter Jr. has been one of the bigger skeptics about getting the vaccine

Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. has been one of the most outspoken players about refusing to get the coronavirus vaccine, right next to Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving.
Porter opened up on his stance about the vaccine in a recent interview with The Ringer, saying he wasn’t against getting the shot – it just wasn’t right for him.
"My main thing is: We don’t have years and years of data for how it can affect you," Porter said. "So for me, I know I’m immune to COVID right now – more immune than a lot of people with the vaccine are. I’ve had it twice. I’ve got the antibodies, all those things. It’s just laying off on it for now. I’m not against the vaccine. What I’m against is not allowing other people to have a choice, or people trying to force it on other people."
Porter’s noted skepticism started last year during a Q&A on Snapchat. He said in July 2020 the virus was being used to "control" the population and that the fear of the virus is "overblown" despite the hundreds of thousands of deaths from the virus around the world.
"Personally, I think the coronavirus is being used obviously for a bigger agenda. It’s being used for population control just in terms of being able to control the masses of people. Because this virus, the whole world is being controlled. You’re required to wear masks and who knows what will happen when this vaccine comes out. You might have to have the vaccine in order to travel, that’d be crazy. I’ve never been vaccinated in my life, I’ve never had any shots or anything like that.
"It could get crazy, but it’s definitely an agenda behind everything that’s going on right now, and all you can do is sit back and watch what’s going on and not get too emotionally involved.
"But it is a serious thing, it’s a real thing, but yeah, this is being overblown."
Last month, Porter told the Denver Post he didn’t feel "comfortable" getting the vaccines because of the so-called unknowns that came along with it.
"For me, I had COVID twice, I saw how my body reacted, and although the chances are slim, with the vaccine, there’s a chance you could have a bad reaction to it," he told the newspaper. "For me, I don’t feel comfortable.
"I’ve had it twice, and I don’t know what’s going in my body with a shot, so if I already know how I’m going to react to COVID, I just feel like, for me, I don’t want to risk putting something that might affect me negatively in my body."
He added that he didn’t support a mandate.
Porter changed his tune a bit on the dangers of the coronavirus while at training camp.
"People that say it’s not a big deal are definitely misinformed," he said, via The Ringer.
Denver starts its regular season on Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns.

2021.10.18 20:12 asianstyleicecream When I stretch, I often feel a bit lightheaded/dizzy. Is this normal?

Background info:
23F. 5’9. No health problems, besides mental health; generalized anxiety, depression, & ADHD. I take Adderall 10mg 1-2x a day.
I was also born with a health defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries, but was corrected at birth from heart surgery, no prior problems or medication taken.
Issue:
When I stretch, even if it’s just stretch my back like when I wakeup, I often get a feeling of dizziness. Which isn’t uncommon with me because often when I even just stand up from a sitting or laying down position, I feel a similar feeling. I always thought I had POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) but realized that you kinda have to faint a lot of the time to be diagnosed with something as serious as that. (Although I did faint once when I was 10 after a hot shower, but I digress)
Is it a lack of blood flow? Or lack of oxygen to my brain? Am I stretching “too much”?(which I have no idea if that’s even possible, I’m hardly pushing my stretch)
Thanks in advance!

2021.10.18 20:12 carrixcake White spot on tonsils/back of throat disappeared within minutes?

23M 5’7” 160lb
No underlying conditions, no know exposure to Covid or any viruses or bacterial infections.
Yesterday there was a spot on the lower left half of my throat that felt like something was stuck there (e.g. food, a pill, etc). I get acid reflux pretty easily when drinking or eating certain foods and I smoked weed the night before so I just attributed it to either acid reflux burning my throat or the smoke burned my throat.
Today the feeling is still there and remains the same, I looked in the mirror and swore I saw a white patch at the back of my throat and then came back 2 minutes later to look again and couldn’t spot it with the flash light.
Is this a legitimate thing that could have happened or was it likely a reflection or glimpse of light of some sort that caused me to think I saw it?
Also if it was there, should I be worried about strep or Covid or anything like that or is it possible it was caused my smoking or from my acid reflux?
Much appreciated!

I think I struck digital gold fam. Help me out? So I bought a decent amount of miners without realizing how much trouble I'd go through to find a place to store them. After a ton of calls I've realized I'm better off building my own facility and hosting my own miners and potentially either other peoples miners or just use the facility to grow on my own.
I finally found a place that's ready to rock and roll with some SICK electric rates but I just wanted to double check with all of yall! Wondering what you make of the demand charge? Seems like that's crazy high to be per kw but would like to hear your thoughts.
Additionally, anybody looking to invest in a mining facility? HAHA. Seriously though... USA based, great electrical rates, and 3MW connection so room to grow!
